A marketing mentor for business owners who want to do it right.
Curtis Roberts Marketing Mentor has elite standards and values. Not hype. Not shortcuts. Not a 47-slide deck. Just clear thinking, sound strategy, and execution that actually holds up.
My approach is simple: clarity before action. I’ve spent 40 years in marketing—agency side, client side, nonprofit development, direct mail, email, donor strategy. I’ve seen what works and what doesn’t. And it’s never the effort that fails a marketing initiative. It’s misalignment.
Most business owners are stuck in one of two places. Either they’re guessing at what to do next, or they’re executing without a clear strategy to guide it. Both paths cost money. Both paths waste time. Both paths create frustration.
That’s where I come in. I help Maine small business owners get clear on three things: what you’re actually trying to achieve, who you’re trying to reach, and how you’ll know when it’s working. Once we have clarity on those, execution becomes predictable.
I’m not here to sell you a 47-slide deck or a six-month retainer you don’t need. I’m here to help you think differently about your marketing so you can move forward with confidence.

Charity Created Clarity
I came back to Maine in the fall of 2024 after one of the hardest professional disappointments of my career. I took a step back. I took a job at Staples — not because it was the plan, but because I trusted that there was a reason.
A few weeks in, I reconnected with a former martial arts instructor who was building a medical Qigong and Tai Chi practice. I offered to help him — for nothing. We met every Sunday for about a year. I helped him clarify his brand, his audience, his offer. And in the process, something shifted in me.
Helping someone else find clarity helped me find my own.
That’s when I realized: the most valuable thing I had to offer wasn’t a campaign or a slide deck. It was the ability to slow down, ask the right questions, and help someone see what was already there.
Charity created clarity. And clarity became the business. Curtis Roberts Marketing Mentor
Strategy without execution becomes theater. Execution without strategy becomes waste. The lanes feed each other.
Curtis Roberts Marketing Mentor started my career in Chicago — direct mail and print production, back when “digital marketing” meant using a fax machine efficiently. For 40 years I’ve worked agency side and client side, in big cities and small markets, across traditional and digital channels. Sears Financial Network. MCI. Portland Press Herald, where I won the NEACE Award. Babson College, where I earned my B.S. in Business Management, Marketing, and in 2016 received CLTP certification(Coaching for Leadership and Teamwork Program).
The tools change. The principles don’t. And the principles are what I’m here to help you find.
